Latest News Home & Garden Show celebrates record visitor numbers
More than 10,000 people visited the Home & Garden Show 2008, held over the weekend at Chester Racecourse. Visitors explored cooking, gardening and interior design zones, each with famous names presenting demonstrations. The show featured sets from interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, celebrity chef Simon Rimmer, interior designer Laura McCree and TV Chef Tiffany. Actress and model Gemma Atkinson, who also starred in I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here, met three teenage cancer patients in a room she designed in conjunction with the Teenage Cancer Trust and Arighi Bianchi.

A guitar signed by Roger Daltrey CBE, frontman of The Who, is one of the prizes in a charity auction for Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) at the Northern Design Awards 2008 on 31st May at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel. The awards celebrate top designers from the Home and Garden Show 2008 which will be held at Chester Racecourse, Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June.

Celebrities at the Home & Garden Show include model and actress Gemma Atkinson, flamboyant interior designer Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, who will be offering tips on the main stage on June 1 and TV gardener Diarmuid Gavin, who will be on the main stage on May 30 and May 31.
Show highlights will include a series of cookery demonstrations by Simon Rimmer on May 30, free one-to-one advice from qualified interior and garden designers and hundreds of stands by market-leading homes, gardens and food companies.

A host of up-and-coming garden and interior designers will be creating show gardens and room sets at this year’s Home & Gardens event, all hoping that theirs will be the one to capture the public’s imagination. Visitors to the show will be invited to vote for their favourite room set or show garden and those with the most votes will receive their awards at the pinnacle of the Home & Garden Show, a glamorous awards evening and dinner at the Chester Grosvenor & Spa on Saturday May 31.
This evening will be attended by a host of celebrities (including Diarmuid Gavin, Gemma Atkinson and Big Brother 1 winner Craig Phillips); all profits from tickets sold to the awards evening will be donated to official show charity the Teenage Cancer Trust and the evening will be supported by and featured in OK magazine.
