Chester’s August Food & Drink Festival 2003 accompanied the racing festival then. It was to showcase some of the best food and drink from the region.

Brief

Appointed by the Chester Race Company, Marketing Projects was in charge of the PR for and awareness of the event. With very tight timescales, Marketing PRojects promoted the festival to Chester restaurants to carry out the race theme in-restaurant. Each received a package included, promotion of the restaurant through the festival ads and month’s free advertising on ‘Where to Eat and Where to Stay’ pages.
Also to insure visitor numbers for the festival were in line with expectations.

Results

Eleven press releases highlighted the key themes and stories around the Festival and attendance was up for the festival at over 50,000 race-goers.

Many restaurants became involved in the Festival which would not otherwise be the case and it helped integrate the racegoers into the city afterwards.

The race programme was also fully sold.
